Who I am
Hi! My name is Gianna Salituri, and I am 20 years old. I have been horseback riding for 14 years. I have competed in dressage, eventing, show jumping, hunter paces and jumpers. I grew up riding in Northern New Jersey and have ridden at three barns so far. I am currently attending Drexel University where I am going to be a junior in the fall I am majoring in Communications with a Journalism concentration and a minor in Marketing. I am really passionate about this sport and how it made me a better person, but there is a darker side that also needs to be talked about.
My blog is intended for anyone who is interested in reading about what actually happens in the horse world and how privileged of a sport it is. It is mostly intended for equestrians who are interested in reading about this topic. It is also intended for people to learn about how hard horseback riding is and how much dedication it takes. I started this blog because I wanted people to understand how hard this sport is, and the mental abuse one can go under and in some cases- sexual. There is a lot of drug abuse in the industry, and a lot of abuse of power. There is racism and a lot more so I wanted to just put my thoughts out there onto a blog.
I also want to talk about all of the good stuff that comes along with horseback riding. It makes you a better and more responsible person and teaches you so many life lessons. My blog has the potential to open equestrians eyes into the world we are involved in while getting information on the ins and outs of the horse world. I have been horseback riding since I was 6 years old, which is 14 years of my life. I have been to multiple different barns and done many different types of riding. I have dealt with extreme anxiety because of the sport but also pure happiness. I have experienced traumatic falls, including fracturing vertebrae in my back, and can talk about how that has made me a stronger person.
